Tascon GmbH, founded in 1997, is a specialized service provider in the field of surface, micro, and nano analysis. With locations in Germany and the USA, Tascon utilises advanced techniques such as LEIS (Low Energy Ion Scattering), SIMS (Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry), and XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy) to determine the chemical composition of surfaces, near-surface layers, and particles. Tascon’s clientele spans a wide range of industries, including research institutions, reflecting its flexibility and broad expertise. Accredited as a testing laboratory under DIN/ISO 17025, Tascon boasts extensive experience in conducting research projects, focusing on the development of surface analytical methods. Regular participation in collaborative projects underscores its commitment to innovation and research excellence.
Tascon’s Role in the MACRAMÉ Project
Tascon GmbH plays a crucial role in the MACRAMÉ Project, contributing its expertise in advanced surface and nano-analytical techniques to enhance the understanding and characterization of Advanced Materials (AdMas). Among other tasks, Tascon is primarily involved in two significant areas within the Project:
- Firstly, Tascon is responsible for developing and performing ToF-SIMS (Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry) on raw materials. The aim is to thoroughly characterise the critical attributes of these materials using advanced methods, thereby providing a robust foundation for further research and development within the MACRAMÉ Project.
- Secondly, Tascon develops and performs ToF-SIMS imaging on biological samples pre-characterised by other Project Partners. The focus here is on validating high-resolution imaging methods to detect and quantify the uptake of AdMas in cells, biological fluids, and tissues. This task aims to enhance the analytical capabilities for studying the interaction of AdMas with biological systems, providing crucial data for assessing their safety and sustainability.
By leveraging its state-of-the-art equipment, including three ToF-SIMS 5 and one Hybrid-SIMS instrument, Tascon ensures high precision and reliability in its analyses. The knowledge gained through these tasks will not only improve Tascon’s services to academic and industrial partners but also contribute significantly to the overall goals of the MACRAMÉ Project.
Advancing Sustainable and Safe Material Innovation
Tascon GmbH’s participation in the MACRAMÉ project highlights its role in advancing the development and standardization of novel methodologies for AdMas. Through peer-reviewed publications and contributions to scientific conferences, Tascon actively disseminates the findings, fostering a broader understanding and implementation of safe and sustainable by design (SSbD) principles in material science.
In summary, Tascon GmbH’s expertise in surface, micro, and nano analysis, combined with its proactive engagement in cutting-edge research Project MACRAMÉ, underscores its commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and supporting industry in achieving sustainable and safe innovations.
